Dormouse class Week beginning 4th November
Date: 25th Oct 2024 @ 4:26pm
Hello all
We have made it to the end of our first half term and what a busy time we have had. The children have been fantastic and they all deserve a rest after working so hard.
Thank you for attending parents evening. It was such a lovely opportunity to share the children's fantastic work and to talk about the progress that they are making.
Our first week back after half term, continues our work on our homes. We will be reading the book - Let's build a house. We are exploring the materials used in buildings and asking why we use glass for windows or bricks for walls. In Science, we will be continuing this by finding out about the properties of materials. Our word aware word for this week is Dry.
In mark making we continue the theme of houses by creating a rectangle shape using straight sides.
In phonics, nursery are learning the rhyme Pat a cake Pat a cake and beginning to orally blend sounds together to make new words. Reception are moving on to their new sounds g o c k.
In maths, Nursery are beginning to learn about patterns and are learning to recognise patterns that alternate such as blue green blue green blue green. Reception are beginning to think about the composition of numbers. We begin by thinking about the whole of something and the parts that make up that whole.
We hope that you have a restful week for half term and look forward to beginning our new half term and begin the lead up to Christmas.
