‘Aim High’

Our first week in Dormouse class

Date: 13th Sep 2024 @ 5:25pm

What a fantastic week we have had in Dormouse class. Everyone settled into our routine quickly and thanks to our established children, the new children were made to feel welcome.

Next week we begin our work about families. We will begin to talk about who is in our family and talk about different families. If you are happy to share family photos, it would be lovely for children to talk about them. Our art work will be based on a sculpture by Barbara Hepworth entitled The Family of Man. We will build our own family using boxes.

In phonics, nursery are learning about alliteration and thinking about the sound that our names begin with. Reception are reading Fun at school and creating full oral sentences to describe a picture. In our physical development we are building gross motor skills using body parts for crawling and in PE we will be learning about stopping and moving and build up our fitness level.

In Maths, nursery are learning about 1 2 3 4 5 once I caught a fish alive, saying numbers in sequence and reception are counting to see how many objects we have. What is the best way to do this?

Next week, we continue our work about our bodies and will be learning about senses - naming them and talking about what they are used for.

Have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you all again next week.
