We have had a busy start to the new term and we are really enjoying our topic "Castles and Dragons." We started our learning off by finding a mysterious egg in the classroom! We had to predict what was inside. Some of us thought it could be a rainbow snake, or a rainbow fairy, maybe even a rainbow dragon! The egg finally hatched to reveal a scaly dragon, which we were very excited about. We read a story called "Tell me a dragon" and have written some superb descriptions about the different dragons from this book.
Our Science this term is focusing on materials and their properties. We went on a material hunt this week and discussed why certain objects are made of specific materials. For example, a fork is made of metal because it is a strong material so it will last for a long time and can pierce into hard foods.
In RE, our new big question is "Who is Jewish and how do they live?"
Year 2 are starting a new unit in maths looking at multiplication. We have began our learning by looking at equal and unequal groups and will then move onto using repeated addition to represent equal groups. Year 1 are starting a new unit looking at the composition of numbers from 6 - 10. We are using part whole models to find the parts and wholes of these numbers.
This week in Topic, we looked at pictures of different castles around the world. We talked about why castles were built and looked at the different parts.
In PSHE, we are focusing on our dreams and goals. We are ging to set ourselves goals for the new term!
Our PE topics this term are dance and target games.
In Phonics this week we have been looking at the alternative graphemes ur/ir air/are ear/eer and or/aw.
Have a lovely weekend!
