We have reached the end of another week and almost the end of a very busy term!
A quick reminder that projects are due in on Monday 7th April, as we have our project afternoon the following day. I can't wait to see what the children have produced!
This week in English we focused on a non-fiction piece of writing. We used the topic books to find out lots of information about knights in medieval times. We turned this information into our own sentences, using a range of conjunctions to extend them. We then turned this into a fantastic fact file, including a title and picture! Year 2 extended their learning by adding in appropriate subheadings for each section of their writing.
In Maths, Year 1 have been looking at doubling and halving. We found out that they are the opposite of one another. We spotted that the number gets bigger when we are doubling, but smaller when we are halving.
Year 2 have continued to explore division. We recognised what the "divisor" is in a division calculation and that we can use this to know what steps we are counting in. We solved some division problems, using our knowledge of sharing and counting in steps of 2, 5 and 10.
In Science, we completed our end of unit assessment, to show off all of the wonderful things that we have learnt over the past term!
In RE, we also completed an end of unit assessment, using a range of key vocabulary that we have learnt in this unit of work.
In DT, we finished off our toy chairs for the teddy bear king! Next week we will evaluate these.
In PSHE, we completed our unit of work thinking about being healthy. We discussed all of the ways that we can keep our bodies healthy.
In Topic, we answered some questions on what we have learnt about castles and dragons this term. Our visit to Chirk castle definitely supported the children in bringing their learning to life. They have remembered such a lot about castles!
Our phonics sounds this week have been oo, ue and u-e. We recognised that these are alternative graphemes.
Have a fantastic weekend everyone!
