‘Aim High’

Week beginning 17th March

Date: 14th Mar 2025 @ 8:26am

Next week, the focus for our habitat is very close to home as we look at our own garden. We are preparing for the new season and will begin to plant broad bean seeds for planting out later in Spring. We already have our potatoes and will begin to look at the shoots that are growing. We are designing our own seed packets and creating posters for our local community to promote our community garden. We will of course be thinking about the weather in the garden, the animals that we find there and the food that we can grow there as part of our overall term's topic.

We have a visit from a Master Composter on Monday to talk about what happens to our compost and how this will help our garden. We already have a large compost heap at the back of the garden and a wormery for our fruit scraps, so we are keen to find out what happens to those.

In maths, Nursery will be looking to see what happens to towers when we add one more. We will continue our work about subitising and recognising up to 5 objects. Reception will be continuing  work on our stem sentences about combining two groups together and recognising when two equal groups are also called a double. We played a great game, rolling a dice and recognising doubles and how many we had in total.

In phonics, Nursery continue their work on recognising rhyming words and reception are learning the final set of phase 3 sounds - air and er.

Have a great weekend
