Week Beginning 24th March
Date: 21st Mar 2025 @ 4:54pm
Thank you for a very productive parents evening. It is always lovely to have the opportunity to talk to you all about the amazing work that your children do and the progress that they are makiing.
This week, we have spent time planting our broad bean seeds and preparing potatoes for planting. We have also weeded and have been checking on our compost bins and wormery. It was lovely to welcome Compost Barbara to school to talk about what happens to the weeds that we put on the compost heap.
Next week, as part of our topic, we are comparing ourselves with other animals. We will be naming parts of the body and talking about what we need and animals need to survive. We will then think about the links with plants and what we need to do to support our new seedlings. Over the course of the term, we have explored a number of different habitats and this week we will draw our knowledge together to talk about the animals that we found in each of these habitats.
In Phonics, Reception are coming to the end of their phase 3 sounds with ue as in blue and ure as in picture. Nursery are thinking about words that begin with the same sound.
In maths, Reception are continuing their work on doubles and will be trying to recall pairs of numbers. Nursery are exploring spatial awareness by learning about positional language.
Have a lovely weekend.
